Updated Daily Health Checklist, Lunch Program, Yearbook Update, and New Visitor Log Book

Dear parents and guardians,

As you may already have heard, the Ministry of Health has recently updated the Daily Health Checklist that students and parents go over together each morning, removing several symptoms that are more likely to have root causes other than COVID-19.

Please see the updated checklist here: HealthChecklist_Students_FINAL

As part of our new COVID-19 Health and Safety precautions, we are now asking all visitors who come inside the school (including family members who are dropping off lunches or other items to students, or picking up/dropping off for appointments) to please sign the visitor log book, which is located on the table in front of the office desk. This will allow us to contact-trace appropriately should the need arise.

We thank you for your patience & consideration with this procedure.

We are happy to announce that as of Friday, September 18th, ordering for the Fuel Up! lunch program has opened up again for this school year!

School district staff have been working closely with our meal providers to ensure feedback from last year has been heard. The caterers have made changes to how meals are distributed, and to ensure all health and safety protocols are adhered to. They are exploring eco-friendly packaging, and are providing meals that are both appealing to children and healthy. To learn more about Fuel Up!, please see this webpage.

Caregivers can begin ordering lunches September 18, and the lunch delivery program will begin September 21.

If you are new to the Fuel Up! lunch program, or if you would like a refresher on how to order, please see the following PDF: Fuel Up District Lunch Program How to Order

If you received a subsidy last year, this will carry over, so those families do not need to re-apply. If you would like to apply for a new partial or full subsidy for the lunch program, please email your school principal. For Mr. Evans, that is cevans@sd40.bc.ca

If you have any questions, please contact fuelup@sd40.bc.ca.

We have had several inquiries from those who ordered about the delivery status of last year’s 2019/2020 yearbooks, and we are happy to report that we are nearly ready to put them in your hands. They have now been unpacked and organized, and they will be distributed to the homeroom teachers to hand out on Monday!

For last year’s grade 8 students who are now attending NWSS, your yearbooks will be taken up to the high school and distributed via the office there. Please listen to the daily announcements at your school to learn where and when to collect your books!

For any others are currently enrolled in online learning, or who are attending a new school other than NWSS this year, please contact the office to make arrangements for pickup.

We thank you for your patience with the delay in receiving them, and we can’t wait for you to see all of the hard work that Mrs. Jurgensen and the Yearbook Club put into them!
