General Information & FAQ: EGMS Ski & Snowboard Club

The EGMS Ski & Snowboard Club (EGMSSS) is an extremely popular offering here at Glenbrook. For the winter of 2022-23, there is already snow in the forecast on the local mountains, and we are eagerly anticipating a great season! This club is a wonderful opportunity for students who have never skiied/snowboarded and want to learn. This is also an opportunity for students to further develop their skills with friends. All levels are welcome!

This season we have planned one full day of lessons, and one morning group of lessons followed by an afternoon of peer skiing/snowboarding. Please see the anticipated schedules for these two days at the bottom of this page!

Students must be aware that Glenbrook’s Code of Conduct must be strictly adhered to while participating in this school-sponsored field trip. Parents must also understand that for safety reasons, we will be hesitant to allow students who have challenges adhering to school policies to participate in this activity. In the past, we have had very few issues, and expect that EGMS students will represent our community to the highest standards. If we find that students are being rude or belligerent to chaperones and instructors, they will not be welcome back on subsequent sessions/trips. Please ensure you have this discussion with your child.

If you have further questions regarding the program, please contact Ms Chan (wchan@sd40.bc.ca) or Mme. Richter (crichter@sd40.bc.ca).

With thanks,

Your organizers Ms. Trieu, Ms. Chan, and Mme. Richter

EGMSSS Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When and where will registration for this club start? How do I register?

A: This year, in the interest of fairness, we have decided to shift to a simple 3-step registration process that will allow us to digitally time-stamp the receipt of each sign-up, and to streamline the organization of this activity. Here are the 3 steps:

  1. On Tuesday November 8th at precisely 7:00 PM, a simple signup form will become available via at the link featured on this page. Each entry will be dated and time-stamped as it is recieved. The link will become “live” on Tuesday, November 8th at 7:00 PM, and cannot be accessed earlier than that. The information needed on the form will be: Child’s Last Name, Child’s First Name, Division/Teacher, and parent email.
  2. We will accept the first 100 respondents to sign up. The following day, they will receive an email confirming their spot, and further instructions for payment (to be made via School Cash Online) will be shared. Payments must be made within 48 hours of receiving the link. We will keep a small waitlist of 5 students. They will also be notified of their waitlist status. *Please be aware that if payment is not made within that 48 hour window, the sign-up will be considered forfeit, and the spot will be offered to the next person on the waitlist.*
  3. Once those applicants have successfully paid, the organizers will then make arrangements to send home a full registration package with each child.

Q: How many spots are available for this activity?

A: There are 100 spots currently available. (As of November 4th, 2022)

Q: What is the cost?

A: With equipment rental, lessons, & transportation: $300.00 OR with own equipment, lessons, & transportation: $270.00 OR with own equipment, own season pass, lessons, & transportation: $240.00

Q: Will you need parent volunteers?

A: Yes! We will send a callout for parent volunteers once we finalize our numbers and staff chaperones. All chaperones/volunteers will need to complete a criminal record check & fill out a school volunteer form if they have not already done so.
