September Start-up 2020/2021: Principal’s Opening Letter, Updated Bell Schedule, and Health Assessment

Dear Glenbrook families,

As you may know, we are getting ready to welcome back our Glenbrook student community at the end of next week! To properly accommodate for our current COVID-19 protocols, the official start date for students has been pushed forward to Thursday, September 10th, and our daily bell schedule has been updated to reflect our new staggered start times and student groupings for meal times and dismissal times. Please visit this page to view that detailed information.

Our Principal Mr. Evans also recently sent out a School Opening letter via email to all of our families which contains not only plenty of health and safety information regarding the coming school year, but information regarding the organization of students and staff into Learning Groups, and how the presence of those groups in the school will be staggered to reduce the number of close, in-person interactions. If you have not already had a chance to view that letter, please click the following link to view it in a PDF format: EGMS Opening Family letter 20-21

As mentioned in that letter, parents and caregivers are required to assess their child daily for symptoms of common cold, influenza, COVID-19, or other infectious respiratory disease before sending them to school. If a student develops symptoms, parents or caregivers must keep their child at home until they have been assessed by a health care provider to exclude COVID-19 or other infectious diseases, and their symptoms have resolved. You may view the Daily Health Assessment Checklist here: Daily Health Assessment.

As we move forward, communication will remain important. Please be reminded that the vast majority of Glenbrook’s communication to students and parents is done via email, and it is considered good practice to check your emails regularly to receive the most up-to-date school information.  To that end, Mr. Evans will send another message to parents on September 8th, 2020, to provide further information about your child’s Learning Group/cohort, protocols for school arrival and more details regarding the first two days of school.

Finally, as always, if you have any questions and/or require further information that is not contained here or elsewhere on our website, please don’t hesitate to contact the office at glenbrook@sd40.bc.ca.
